Take A Moment

We’ve all experienced times in our lives where:

  • we feel pulled in all directions

  • stretched to our limits or

  • completely overwhelmed.

Adding breaks can help to ensure an overall state of physical, cognitive, emotional and social wellbeing.

Top Tips # 1 To Get You Started

1 Become aware of the natural gaps in between tasks

  • Notice where a break could be taken

  • Set some alerts on your phone as a reminder.

2 Take a moment

  • Stand up or change position, roll your shoulders and neck, relax your jaw, soften your forehead

  • Are your feet flat on the floor.

3 Look out the window

  • Notice what you can see……clouds, trees, people

  • What can you hear

  • Focus for a moment on your breath

  • Check that your breath is coming from your diaphragm, rather than shallow breathing from your upper chest

4‍ ‍Move around

  • Walk to refill your glass of water

  • Go and say Hi! to a colleague

  • Take a short walk outside.

5 Notice

  • Are you hungry or thirsty

  • Do you need the bathroom

  • What does your body need.
